The Periodic Table Project

Marita Dyson & Stuart Flanagan

Opening Thursday 4 December, 6.00pm - 7.30pm
December brings a marriage of art and science to Gallery @ City Library, with the installation of a giant artistic interpretation of the Periodic Table of the Elements. Using the history and industrial application of chemical elements as a point of departure, artists Marita Dyson & Stuart Flanagan explore issues related to mining, biotechnology, medicine, manufacturing, energy production, agriculture and nutrition through a quirky visual refiguring of the familiar scientific chart. An accompanying website also provides aural interpretations of the elements  - exploring material properties through texture, harmony and rhythm.

Projections: Painting with Objects - Michael Georgetti

I am interested in ways that a combination of painting, video and
installation can be used to instigate romantic, playful and humorous
interpretations of the boundaries between real and painted spaces.
Through incorporating remote-controled cars, cardboard boxes, paint
brushes and other commonplace materials my work (Painting with
Objects) plays on the slippage between abstract painting and the
everyday world.
