“Doing it for yourself” … Manage your own account through the catalogue

Have you moved or changed any of your contact details lately? Do you have a new email address or mobile phone number?

You can now manage your own personal details through the library catalogue.

Are you sick of trying to find your library card or remember your library barcode number when logging on to the catalogue?

Set up an Alias in your Member Details to substitute your barcode number for any name or number you choose! It’s an easy way to access your account and membership details.

Remember, by logging on to our library catalogue you can keep a track of when your items are due and renew them. You can also place reservations for that most sought after summer read.

Renewals
To renew your loans login to your account and click the My Details tab. Next click the Items on loan link.

Most items can be renewed (except short term loan items) provided someone else has not reserved them. Audio visual items can be renewed 2 times and all other materials 3 times. The due date is the last day on which you can renew your loans without incurring fines.

For website renewals you will need the barcode on your library card and your PIN (which is the last four digits of your home phone number, unless you have specified otherwise). Please note if the item has been renewed successfully the new due date will be shown.

Reservations
Our catalogue lists items held at Melbourne Library Service. Should you wish to borrow a title that is out on loan or at another library you can request the item by placing a reservation via the catalogue. You may have up to 20 items on reserve at any one time. Please note items with a status of lost, trace or claims returned cannot be reserved. To reserve an item click here to see our library catalogue.

Location codes
Once you have found a title the Copy/Holding information will tell you the location of the book, the CALL number (shelf location), whether the item is available and a due date if it is out on loan. The location codes are as follows:
