Melbourne Library Service has several meeting and seminar rooms available at our three locations.  Please contact each library individually to book. 


Multiple Bookings
Applications for multiple bookings open November 1 and close November 30. 
All interested groups will be contacted mid-December regarding confirmation of their bookings.  Our meeting rooms are in high demand and in order to make bookings as fair as possible we cannot guarantee ongoing bookings for groups from year to year. 
If you would like to make an application for multiple bookings please complete this form and return it to the library between Nov 1 and Nov 30.  Applications prior to this date or after will not be considered.

Please ensure you are familiar with our Venue Hire Policy.


CITY LIBRARY

City Library has one* room which may be booked for group study or meetings during the following times:
Monday - Thursday 9am to 7.45pm
Friday 9am to 5.45pm
Saturday 11am to 5.45pm
Sunday 12pm to 4.45pm

All prices quoted are inclusive of GST

* Please note we are no longer able to offer our Seminar Room for commercial or community use.  Due to the large number of people visiting the library and space constraints the room will be available for the use of library patrons wishing to study or read.  Library programs, including partnerships, will continue to run in the room.

Group Study Room
The Group Study room is part of The Frank Crean Independent Learning Centre and is ideal for small group study, tutoring or interviewing.

East Melbourne Library and Community Centre

The room seats 70 people and several tables are available. Includes lectern, PA system, whiteboard, data projection and television with DVD and video player. Access to kitchenette with fridge, urn, cups and saucers, dishwashing facilities. Disabled access and toilets. 
 

North Melbourne Library Meeting Room
Seats up to 54 people. Includes whiteboard, lectern, PA system. Access by stairs or lift. Toilets with disabled access.

Booking Guidelines (North Melbourne and East Melbourne)
To make a booking contact the individual library.

Notification is required for all cancellations.

For meetings held outside library opening hours, a representative of your group must visit the library prior to the meeting to collect the keys and receive information about opening and closing procedures. This person must be over 18 years of age and accept responsibility for the security of the building and facilities used by the group.

For evening meetings the key must be picked up on the day of the meeting during opening hours. For morning meetings the key must be picked up on the day prior to the meeting during opening hours.  Keys must be returned to the library within 24 hours of the booking time.

A security deposit must be paid and will be forfeited if:

  • The alarm is set off
  • Any external doors are left unlocked
  • An undue amount of rubbish is left in the rooms
  • Loss of key
Payment will be required for any breakage or loss of library property.

If using the kitchen, you must supply your own tea, coffee, milk, and towels.

Facilities must be left in a clean and orderly state, tables and chairs must be returned to their original places.

Premises are designated NO SMOKING areas.
