Teen Read Week Oct 12 >18 Books with Bite @ your library
From Oct 12 to 18 Melbourne Library Service will be celebrating young adult books with plenty of bite - thrilling, unreal, creepy, scary, futuristic, and exotic. If you're aged between 12 and 25 years enter one of our competitions - write a review of a book you think has bite, or why not try your hand at fan fiction?
Fan-fiction competition - with bite! Got a book or series you love? Written fan fiction, or thought about writing it? Writers 25 years and under are invited to send us a short piece of fan fiction (up to 1000 words) set in the world of your favourite book or series. Be creative - the theme for this year is "Books With Bite" - and you can interpret this in many ways, such as a vampire, zombie, werewolf, exotic foods, or technology. The competition winner will receive a book pack and a Borders voucher. Just one submission per entrant. For a handy pamphlet of Books with Bite click here
Review competition - for the budding literary critic! Write a review of up to 200 words on a YA book from the Teen Read Week Shortlist. Reviews will go in the running to win a Borders voucher and be published on the MLS Youth website.
Recommend a book - send us a small, 25 word blurb about a young adult book you've enjoyed and go in the running to win a small prize. Your blurb will be used to help other readers find books they might enjoy.
Submit your fan fiction, review or blurb between 12 - 31 October 2008. Be sure to include your name, age, and contact details. Submission can be in person at any branch of the Melbourne Library Service, or email them to libraryyouthservices@melbourne.vic.gov.au |
